Due south of Koh Wua Talap, where the park office is located, Koh Phaluai's eastern shore has possibly the best example of mangrove forest to be found in the park.

This forest type is important as a breeding area for hundreds of species of fish.

The smaller islands of Koh Tao Pun, Koh Mod Dang, Koh Lak, Koh Tu and Koh Kluai encircle Koh Phaluai. The locals of the island make a living from farming and fishing. Producing coconuts, rubber and a variety of fruits, the island is famous in this region for sun dried mullet and squid.
Buddhism is the practiced religion of the residents who number around 430 people.

The island has two small Buddhist temples. Visitors to Koh Phaluai will be greeted by friendly happy locals who enjoy a peaceful simple lifestyle. Limited basic accommodation is available for those wishing to stay overnight. Reliant on solar panels and generators for electricity, a flashlight is a handy accessory for guests to the island.

Best visited between the months of February and August, the park closes in November and
December due to unfavorable weather conditions...
